MY STORY

To Your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalms 115:1

I hardly remember life before I was 7, after that I grew up in Monrovia, CA, and was adopted at 11 years of age. My adoption was abnormal. My mother struggled with raising 6 kids with my grandmother and the stress induced by the circumstances made a beautiful experience quickly deteriorate into mental, emotional, and physical abuse. In addition to that, I struggled with the psychological issues of not having my parents. I didn’t trust people. By high school I hardly learned to exchange love in return or to be a person worthy of it. I lived with family and friends in both California and Texas in my teen years until I moved into my first apartment at 18. Mentally I lived on an island my entire life, learning and growing on my own, but as I got older I learned that too is damaging.

The birth of my son changed my life. I love learning, and I wanted to channel that strength until I reached law school. However, I struggled to support both Elijah and myself financially while pursuing my education.

God reached out to me in a dream one night a few months after Elijah was welcomed into the world, and thankfully He’s been working on me ever since. His relentless pursuit of His children to this day astonishes me.

Although my hopes and dreams have changed, with God, I been able to overcome the odds and build a better life for myself and my son. I am far from perfect. I hope to encourage my readers (You) that regardless of the details of your struggle:  keep your eyes fixated on Jesus, seeking Him in all that you do, and you too can overcome. You can achieve every thing your heart desires, big or small.

I recently married the love of my life Addison Legere, and for all of
the right reasons. He loves God and his character is practically impeccable. I learn so much from him on a daily basis. His patience with me is the glue to our happy marriage.

Today: My husband is my best friend. My son is precious. Our lives are intertwined with continually learning to love and live with one another in peace and harmony. It’s a far stretch from the path I walked on as a child, and it’s one that I can influence, and I get to create. It’s beautiful. My career is rewarding. My education is on track and life is good.
